Top Japanese Ramen!

There’s nothing like slurping down a good bowl of Japanese ramen to ward off coughs and colds as the weather changes. Or, just when you are craving it!

So for the past week i went on a hunt for the Best Japanese Ramen in Hong Kong. Serious, i mean it. I had ramen on a daily basis... I even went back to some a couple of times to have a re-taste! - Still not sick of it though! but i think some of the friends i grabbed with me are. haha!

So i decided to make a TOP 3 Ramen list of the yummiest places in town to satisfy your miso, karemiso or ume shio cravings!

Ippei-An Ramen & Bar.
4/F Circle Plaza. 499 Henessy Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong - 3741-1166
Shop 11, 2/F, Miramar Shopping Centre, 132 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui – 2375 5330
Get ready for a food Coma! A flavourful broth and chewy noodles with an unforgettable taste of Yakitori dishes (at a decent price too!) makes this ramen specialist worth visiting if you’re in Tsim Sha Tsui or Causeway Bay.
*Once a month they will also invite a band from Japan to play at night. I was lucky enough to experience this yesterday! I loved it! The restaurant was also filled with Japanese families during dinner time. I felt like i was back in Japan!!!

Mist
G/F, 4 Sun Wui Road, Causeway Bay – 2881 5006
Hands-down one of the best bowls of ramen in town. This is posh ramen – ramen, fine dining style. Expect to pay over $100 for a bowl of the good stuff, but what you pay in $$, you can taste in quality. Great for a surprise classy date after telling them you're having ramen!
*Best to make a booking for dinner since most of their recommended side dishes and appistizers are only served after 6pm.

Santouka Hokkaido Ramen
Shop 608, 6/F, iSquare, 63 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui – 2721 1298; 1/F, Jusco, Kornhill Plaza, 1 Kornhill Road, Quarry Bay – 2967 4044
Expect long queues at this Hokkaido-style ramen outlet. The ramen was not bad at all but just lacked that MAGIC i had at Ippei-An. You get what you pay for, really not bad for the price.
*I would prefer to go during Lunch because their Lunch Sets are to die for! You get so much for what you're paying.

Of course these places are just my opinion and taste of Japanese Ramen. So really you got taste it yourself to see which one is your Magic Ramen Bowl. hehe.
There were many more Japanese Ramen joints that were pretty good like Yachiyo and Sapporo that's also worth a try.

Happy Ramen guys!

  3. Seems that you had a jolly good old time, and a good idea too, to go around Hong Kong & check out the various offerings and then compare them, price-wise, value-for-money wise, taste-wise, etc, there are people who do that for a living you know, many of them have columns in several magazines, telling people/readers of the places where they have eaten recently, and giving a honest opinion, not criticisms, unless the place was so, so bad, just good honest thoughts about what they had and how enjoyable it was (if at all) and if it was value for money. Why don't you try and see if you too can get a couple of columns in the magazines? Make some inquiries, tell them who you are, that'll help a whole lot, see if you get any offers to write about all the places that you have frequented, you will be invited to just about eatery in HK and the surrounding territory, all those free lunches & dinners, just think.☺

Well anyway, that's just an idea really, food for thought you might say..(no pun intended.☺)

Yes, deffo, as soon as I'm back on Lantau, I'm gonna look up Santouka & give it a try-out!

You know, you probably know this already, but there are many different types of Italian Pasta, and sauces, and Pesto's & stuff, and we Italian/Spanish/Latin types really do L♥ve mushrooms and mushroom dishes!

Have you ever tried to find any really decent Italian style mushroom dishes in HK yet?
I know a couple of places, but I don't want to be cheeky & advertise them on your blog, but if you can find a few, do let us know!
My favorite is the Enormous (as in huge) Giant Cup Mushrooms, stuffed with garlic and herbs, Pecorino Italian cheese, Pine nuts, and diced Parma Ham, & stuff like that, when that is made properly, it will literally blow your cotton socks off, I L♥ve stuffed mushrooms and stuffed Tomatoes, stuffed Zucchini (Courgette) or stuffed Marrow, with savory mincemeat and Sun Roast Tomato Paste, with some Mozzarella Di Bufala melted into it, that alone would blow your mind.

Well anyway, I'm gabbing on about food again, sorry, Your blog is about Ramen, and it is a good blog too! Do try to get a column or two though, what do you stand to lose? nothing!!!
So, go for it, and say Banzai...\☺/

    Ciao bella.
